Good post. Good thread. I'd have a hard time trying to match the Sonic SatAM format. I would keep the more serious tone as the morning show but would try to add some life lessons in the show (similar to Sonic SatAM episode 7, Season 1, Super Sonic, when Sally tells Sonic "one day, you'll realize that speed isn't everything" or something like that...see when Lazar strips Sonic of his speed and tells him "brains you must use."

Something like that. Serious but some life lessons added.

Your "SatAM-X" fanfiction series is a direct continuation of the original show from which it's based on. But if you were to reboot the entire franchise itself, how would you do it?

Now that would take alot of thinking before I could answer this question correctly.

Although one thing I can honestly say is that alot of my inspiration for it would be based off of other popular series, such as Terminator, Megaman X and Deus Ex. All 3 of them are very well written for the most part when it comes to sci-fi concepts.

The characters for the most part would remain the same since they already are pretty well established as far as I'm concerned. Why change something if it works?

I would make my show like Sonic Universe and Sonic the hedgehog but more serious and Eggman is changed to Robotnik. Robotnik would be leaning towards the SatAM side but sonic still calls him Eggman and is incrediblly more serious. He would still make jokes and stuff, but he would be serious 95% of the time. Also It would continue off where Season 2 in satAM left off.

At the same time however, that points up another important factor of not making new characters that skew Sonic's character too much.

In the instance of SatAm, if you have a character that is designed to be a total contrast of Sonic's defining aspects, don't make it so they better him 90% of the time. Or in the instance of Sonic X, if you have a character that is meant to be an audience surrogate towards Sonic, make sure the main character himself is still in the spotlight while doing so.

Making good original characters for a media is fine, but make sure that they still compliment Sonic and remember that ultimately the show is still primarily about him, not them.

The life lessons aspect I think is fair play, most cartoons with good casts I think actually use it to some extent, though it tends to work better if it's shared to all the cast evenly, which not only helps share spotlight and development, but also prevents a particular victim looking like a dumbass with Aesop Amnesia (SatAm may have actually made for better Character Development if Sally, Rotor, Bunnie or even Antoine got put in the focus and had to learn from important mistakes, rather than the 'Sonic is reckless and learns from a screw up' formula all the time). Ironically Sonic X shared it better, but with almost everyone BUT Sonic.

I don't mind a more comedic tone, especially since most darker Sonic stuff has a rather pretentious feel. Something like SatAm that is dramatic but with a healthy dose of whimsy and humor to balance it is fine though.

Here's a good question for everyone here

Who would you guys choose to be the music composer behind the new Sonic SatAM? In my experience, music is the key to telling a great storyline.

Honestly, I would love to see the original Sonic SatAM composer Michael Tavera return. But then again he's not doing much music composing these days and allowing entertainment companies like Nick and Cartoon Network to use his huge music library from his previous movies, tv shows and so on.

Well there are five composers that might do a great Sonic score besides Tavera himself.

1.) Robert J. Kal
-Best known for composing the hit animated series "Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated" and the late great "Angel" series.
-Along with the inde horror movie "A Haunting in Connecticut"

2.) Thomas Chase Jones
-Best known with composer Steve Rucker for "Dexter's Lab", The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, and many other classic cartoons.
-By himself, he did "The Batman" cartoon along with several made-for-DVD Scooby Doo movies

3.) Brian Tyler
-Best known for composing the Hit TV series "Transformers: Prime" and "Hawaii Five-O".
-Just recently did the music for the Hit videogames "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" and "Need for Speed: The Run".
-He's most famous for his works on films like "The Final Destination, Timeline, Eagle Eye, The Expendables. Law Abiding Citizen, and Fast Five"

4.) Micheal Giacchino
-Best known for his works on the videogame series, "Medal of Honor" by Steven Spielberg himself
-Most famous for his TV composing of "Alias, LOST, Fringe," and one short Tom & Jerry cartoon
-Very famous for works in Disney/PIXAR films "The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and UP"
-Just recently did the music for the hit movies "Star Trek, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and "Super 8"
-He's what people of today are calling him "The next John Williams"

5.) Dynamic Music Partners (MICHAEL McCUISTION, LOLITA RITMANIS & KRISTOPHER CARTER)
-Famous and Very well known for their works with "Batman, Superman, Justice League, Teen Titans, The Speculator Spider-Man, Ben 10: Alien Force, and the cult hit TV series "Tower Prep"

My pleasure dude, I'm what would you call a "Soundtrack" specialist when comes to this kind of stuff.

In my opinion, without the right composer and type of style/theme, any movie or tv show would possibly suck. Or not depending how they handle it. Then again if the studios are cheep, they may have to make that tough decision

It's hard these days to make a sonic show from scratch without resorting to fan fiction which technically i guess it is. I'm guilty of this as well.
