Marta's death, yeah...that was so sad and dramatic. It was kind of gruesome, so I feel weird admitting it, but that was one of my favorite scenes.

It's been a long time since I really got into any new anime series, but right now I'm obsessed with Hikaru No Go. I had doubts about watching it at first, since I'd never actually played the board game Go, but really, it's a wonderful story. Watching it prompted me to learn how to play a little.

My favorites have to be Trigun and The Twelve Kingdoms. The latter starts off as a very typical (nearly stereotypical) anime, and I stopped watching after the second episode. The main character was just too annoying. During my second viewing, I decided that the main character wasn't merely annoying; she was behaving as anyone could expect a teenage girl to behave given her situation.

The Slayers was my favorite in high school, but it's fallen to an "okay" status since. Blue Seed was fun the first time through, but I didn't enjoy it as much the second time. Perhaps the first and second viewings were too close together, but I'd have no problem watching Tri-Gun or Twelve Kingdoms multiple times in a year. I don't mean to sound like a snob, though! My taste just changed, and I'd probably enjoy watching those two with a group just as much as I enjoyed watching them alone the first time around.

I don't recall seeing any anime on Nickelodeon, though I know how much some people want to classify Avatar as anime, even though it isn't. I haven't watched any Nickelodeon beyond that since they ceased showing cartoons in the same spirit of the original Nicktoons. I'll revisit the channel (through Hulu) when The Legend of Korra premies next November.

I LOVED Koala Adventure and Noozles! I haven't seen those since I was little!

Avatar really doesn't count as anime in my book, it only borrows a bit of the style. I can borrow a famous artist's techniques, but that doesn't make my work a Rembrandt or Picasso. I understand that the company does also work on anime productions, but if we're going to call Avatar anime, we'd have to include more American cartoons as anime, which I'd rather not do.

Just got back into anime last fall (along with TV animation as a whole). I watched Robotech when it was on SciFi back in the early 90s, though I didn't know what anime was then. I watched Pokemon around 1999/2000, but I liked the first 2 seasons of Digimon better. However, I completely missed out on Toonami (the daytime version), and it still burns. That said, as a lover of scifi and space operas, I feel like I've hit he mother lode. So many awesome shows. The following are just a few of the ones I've come to love:
