Do I like anime? For the most part I do. I'm not a
huge fan of it, but I do find it interesting. My favorite anime right now is one I doubt any of you have ever heard of; Excel Saga.
Basically, it's a comedy/parody series-kind of a stretch from the orignal manga, which is comedic in itself, but nowhere near as crazy as the anime. The anime...can be very random at times.
So, this is how it goes; at the begining of nearly every episode, a caracture of the orignal manga's creator, gives the staff permission to use the show to paradoy various generes, such as a comedy love story (Episode 4) and a detective anime (episode 12). Now, pretty much every episode kinda links together, so it has continuity-somewhat.
Now as for the anime itself, it's about this high school graduate named Excel Excel (yes, that's her name) who finds herself working for someone she's crazy about-Lord Illpalazzo. (However, he doesn't share her affections, often dropping her down a
very deep hole when she gets too annoying.) But anyway, Illpalazzo, thinking the world is corrupt, wants to take it over, so ACROSS (that's the name of the small organization he runs, btw) can 'set things right.'
However, he decides to be smart, and not just take over the entire world at once. No, he decides to start small (to allow room for error), and tries to conquer a place known a F City (which is based on Fukodoka [sp?] in Japan).
There are just a few problems with this. Excel is....crazy. Very crazy. And if something happens and their mission fails (which it usually does), Excel is probably the one to blame. And then we have Hyatt (yes, there's a very good chance she's named after the hotel). She's much more competent, but there's a little...problem she has; She suffers from what I like to call 'Constant Death Syndrome'. She will suddenly drop dead, only to come back to life a scene or so later. They never explain why she does that though.
And then they have to deal with The Department of City Security, which
isn't aware ACROSS even exists until late in the series. It's kind of funny, because one of thier members actually has a crush on Hyatt.
The show lasted for 26 episodes, with Episode 25 ending the series proper and 26 just being a bonus ep, if you want to call it that. I haven't watched all the episodes, but I like to. Except for Episode 26, Going Way Too Far. Also known as The-Episode-That-Was-Not-Aired-Japan-Because-It-Appearently-Did-Indeed-Go-Way-To-Far-For-Even-Thier-More-Lienant-Standards. Yeah...I probably won't see that one.
And as I mentioned before, the episodes parody different generes. However, the series itself also has some of it's own recuring parody elements, ranging from catgirls (android Ropponmatsu Unit 2), deus-ex machinas (The Great Will of the Macrocosim) and even, get this, Pokemon. (the adorable-until they die- Puuchus.)
So yeah, that's my fav anime. I actually didn't expect to like it all that much, but I do. ^_^
Oh, and....

Misaki Matsyu = total epic ownage.

(Random Fact: Interestingly enough, the folks that dubbed the English version of Excel Saga, A.D Vision, actually dubbed the Sonic OVA. That made me raise a curious eyebrow when I found out about it)
