Hey, the Nicole concept sounds nice to me, too.

Very deep for the cartoon series, heck I may draw on it in my fanfic eventually.

Ben seemed to be a very good writer and plot builder. Everything he put seemed to have some amazing potential.

I do wish that whatever he wanted may keep living on in our fanworks and the Season 3 Comic.

For some reason, Nicole's backstory sounds really familiar...maybe someone came up with a similar story at some point...although since I don't read fanfiction, I'm not sure how I'd have known it........Maybe someone who knew mentioned it once?

Thanks for posting this Quex! I kind of agree with Psi, this sounds a little too dark for me, but I really like seeing something totally different for SatAM. I've been getting tired of merging SatAM and Archie in my own mind, so something totally original is really, really nice.

SatAM was always pretty dark to begin with. I wonder if ABC or DiC would have approved of this idea though.

I don't think anyone will be offended if someone doesn't like these ideas. I mean a lot of people don't like the Mobius is Earth thing, but hey it's what would have happened. Besides who knows how many of these ideas would have come through in the end? As Ben always said, writing is rewriting, so there's always a chance the ideas would have changed

As for other sites showing these, I think for now the SatAM sites should just be linked to. I think that'd be the best way to go about it.

i know not everyones gonna like these ideas, but when you say it a couple more times, it kinda comes off as trying to prove something, anyways Mr. Ben Hurst had some really interesting ideas on how to develop NICOLE

I know this was written before Halo came out, but a lot of these details are somewhat similar at base to Cortona, The AI in Halo. Her AI is based on another human's brain and personality. Just a bit odd to me that Ben had an idea that's similar to something else...

SatAm had an atmospheric tone but was actually much more whimsical and lighter in it's context than some of the games and comics (or even Sonic X). It followed 'darkness' more along the lines of atmosphere rather than going for 'mature' context like guns and angst andactually maintained a much more cartoony atmosphere at times. Granted, this did obviously cause a few development problems as in order to maintain a kid friendly demographic at times, emotional reactions likely had to be toned down and kept 'goofier' and less distressing (eg. concepts not handled with enough weight, the aforementioned robotocization process Chuck nonchalently describes or the occasional lack of empathy towards robotocized victims, especially when you consider all these characters have been robbed from their family for over a decade) but I still think it balanced adarker concept bestoutof all the enterpretations of the franchise without alienating or condescending too much to certain audience. It was a family show, which is what I think Sonic really should aim for.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I've been busy with school lately. After reading all that, I wish SatAM had continued on, but I'm 14 years too late on that one. Still, it was a good read, especially the Nicole stuff. Nicole easily became my seventh favourite character, after reading most of the 170s. I must admit though, I do like her Mobian form, even though it isn't the sole reason why I'm even more of a Nicole fan than I was. Truth be told, I was always a Nicole fan, particularly in the early days, more so in SatAM than the Archie comics(though the Archie comics had some good Nicole moments too). But recent developments have given me a new appreciation for her character. I kind of wished SatAM had a back story for her though, and it looks like Ben(RIP) was on track to make it happen. And now I'm back to wishing SatAM wasn't canceled after two seasons. Sigh.

I like the idea of giving NICOLE some actual character, especially since her 'multi purpose super device' presence occasionally feels a bit cheap without actual development. It's just I haven't really been fond of the way either medias execute it.

The SatAm 'brain in a jar' concept, as already stated, felt a bit too morbid for my liking (though I liked her gaining of mannerisms after too much interaction with Sonic, which did at least make it into the finished episodes).

The comics had an interesting idea, giving her a holographic form, her design is cute as well, the big problem however is that she almost as little personality and spotlight time as she did as a chuck of metal. She appears solely to materialize some sort of assistance to the Freedom Fighters and then toodles off, she feels more like Ian's little short cut for the plot rather than some interest in making her more of a real character.

yea that's true with her body form..

Nicole did lack the personality as a living breathing life form more then she did as a handheld pc.
