I'm actually really excited for this. Sure a lot of Sonic fans are apprehensive, I would prefer a more story based narrative than a comedic one and the 11 minute shorts give me bad memories of the Antoine shorts but what I've always liked about the Sonic animations is that we get to see a greater depth of character interaction than we do in the games. Hey maybe we will see Knuckles and Amy talk to each other!

The designs look weird in silhouette but I like experimenting with the Sonic design so it should be interesting as long as it's only for this cartoon.

Plus Sonic shows typically result in more merchandise, greater profile in the media for the franchise and new fans coming into the fanbase.

So yeah, I'm excited. Now the question is how to get it in Australia...
At least in 11 minute segments, they're easy to upload to YouTube.

it sounds like this series will be weird...with Simpsons and Drawn Together animaters they may do more than Animate and is the series strict with its current cast? because i hope more Sonic Characters make it into the plot...is Amy really a fan-favorite? eh doesn't matter...wouldn't it be weird if this was like fleetway comics?

It's a little hard to tell from a silhouette alone, but yeah, Knuckles seems a little... brutish...

I am excited actually. I just hope it has a interesting story unlike AOSTH or the Antoine shorts. Or just unlike -able like Sonic X (though not everything was bad). I would also want to see other characters as well that we haven't seen before. On another note, I heard a show was possible with the comic characters redesigns. Is that true?

P.S- what channel is this show planned to be on?

Amy is a fan favourite in the same way that Shadow is, in that they both have a huge amount of fans and are amongst the most popular characters- but they also have a lot of haters too.

I doubt that this would be like Fleetway, it seems very different toned to Fleetway, unless you mean that in Fleetway all the characters had different designs from the games but even in Fleetway the characters didn't look THIS different.

yeah im not feeling fully excited about this either...im thinking something might flop, i mean im still going to see what its like but right now it sounds like it could be dull...“Story Driv'in Comedy”? how many jokes can one make using the basic sonic cast? and is this storything going to be random like AOSTH where no episode ties anywhere? not only that but i'm expecting random “Dirt” thrown in...i know it hasn't even started yet and im dissing but i just had to get it out there

A fan favourite simply means that the character is really popular- which Knuckles and Amy are. A character who is popular but lesser known is usually referred to as a dark-house favourite or maybe a cult-favourite (although that's more used for shows and movies than characters).

And I think Knuckles and Amy are there because they're core characters of the franchise. Like if you look at any of the marketing SEGA does of the character's it's usually these fours plus Eggman and maybe Shadow. Merchandising is a bit different- there Silver gets more prominence, but yeah usually it's Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy so the show is just following suit.

As for whether Boom will end up like Adventures- AoSTH wasn't a character driven comedy- it was still very action based so that makes me curious as to what Boom will be like. Obviously there will be some action as they have mentioned new enemies but hopefully we might be able to see the characters explored a bit.

And for the record AoSTH did have a handful of recurring characters so there were SOME episode ties. Obviously not as much as SatAM's second season- but they were there.

Well that's because most animations are cheap flash animations- comparatively speaking. It's just a more cost-efficient way of animating. Doesn't mean people have given up. Plus even Disney doesn't tend to animate the same way they did in the 90s anymore so the disney-esque style has sort of fallen out if favour. There's still some quality animation coming out but it's not in the disney style.

Ofcourse Boom isn't going to be a flash animated show, it's going to be CG apparently.

Ya thus whole thing is kinda blurry. However I would not be very interested in another show like AOSTH, I outgrew that comedy a long time ago. If I had one wish, it would be to bring SatAM back. Dang I miss that show.

If I don't see Bunnie, Antoine, Sally, and Roter, I will be very upset. But will end up giving the show a try i guess..
