Just a quick question though, based on the games: In a world of human like animals, how is it Sonic was rescuing regular animals from Robotnik? This never really made any sense to me.

The same way Mickey Mouse owns a dog, while at the same time, being best friends with another dog who stands upright and can talk.

I remember reading an old Sega of Japan manual that went into detail about the islands of the original games (South Island, Westside Island, Angel Island) being in the Pacific ocean a while back. I'll keep an eye out for it. It mentioned Sonic's friends too (with their Japanese names, Ricky, Pocky, ect.), but they did'nt teach him how to run or jump or anything. XD

They were never regular animals. In Sonic 3D Blast it clearly shows Sonic talking to the Flickies. Amy talks to a Flicky in Sonic Adventure and Sonic X, also the Flicky inside Gamma was clearly intelligent. And the tiny animals in Sonic Rush cheer for you, throwing confetti in the air, and jumping up and down. Plus, at the end of every Sonic game it shows the tiny animals celebrating.

Yes, but the other animals typically aren't antro while all the main characters are. I don't have a problem with it, I think it's kind of cute, but it is a little odd if you think about it.

Not the clearest pictures, but books two and four on this page show 2-tailed Ricky/Sally (I don't know which name they use, if any) the fourth one shows both her and Tails in the picture (they're each on top of a column).
