    Lol, indeed!! XD

Nah, reboot Nicole is more than just a computer; she's a freakin' Digimon! They go into that in the Sonic Universe arc "Spark of Life."

Interestingly, her origin story is similar to what Ben Hurst had in mind for her...!

(And FWIW, it was Ben, not Ian, who had Nicole trying to say, "I love you, Sally.")

But anyway, it bears mentioning that, when/if the Freedom Fighters show up in the IDW series, Nicole will almost certainly be back to being nothing more than a computer, due to legalities. But there's a fairly major piece of news there that ima make a separate topic about in a bit.

Enjoy the Archie reboot for the [relatively] short series that it is.

But in case you didn't hear, the pre-reboot Archie series is being continued by fans! And I'm just now learning that Sonic the Hedgehog Online #249 was just released today!!

If NICOLE is reduced to a com-unit again, Id be somewhat disappointed. Im amazed how much she developed as a character post-Penders era and I honestly grew attached to her snarky and witty banter.

I do remember reading the Ben Hurst notes how NICOLE was actually Sally's childhood friend and Robotnik transferred her life energy into a computer leaving her body a lifeless husk. Thats...dark. :stressed:

From what I'm reading, I keep hearing that Ian isn't confident on the FFs appearing in IDW or that theres a rights issue. Or that he has a personal bias against those characters. Overall, I just feel they deserve some type of cameo at least. The reboot series might as well be its own thing. It has a stronger focus on the games and the dialogue is more lighthearted.

In fact, the more I think of it, I feel that the reboot is just Archie coming full circle. If you look at the first couple issues from 1993, Sally actually has the same character design. Round face, no cheek tuffs, short and pudgy. Yet when the comic became more mature, we saw her gain cheek tuffs, grow taller and uh..."develop." So my theory, is that the reboot returned to the simple streamlined campiness of early Archie and de-aged everyone. So basically, it ended how it started. Kinda poetic in a way. I still have a couple issues to plow through. I really hope there do get a worthy send off cause I cant stand these characters constantly suffering through cliffhangers.

I heard about Archie Online years ago, but I passed it off as another failed Sonic project that wouldnt take off. Im looking at the covers and Im amazed how well the style emulates the character designs and pre-reboot. I guess these issues take place during the Pre-SGW? Almost like a split time between the two universes? Interesting to see where this goes cause I just feel so much was left untied with the Infinity War style battle, Naugus/Geofery St John's possession, and Mecha-Sally. Ill check out that soon as I finish the re-boot Archie.

Geez, you leave a fanbase for nearly a decade and you feel obligated to catch up on everything that was missed.

Lol, you can safely ignore those who say Ian Flynn has a personal bias against the FFs. I've listened to enough of the BumbleKast to know. It's an easy accusation for people to make, given that he's so enthusiastic about the IDW series (which he should be, lol, giving that he's working on it!) I remain hopeful that we'll see FFs show up at some point next year.

And yeah, the ASO artwork is quite impressive. It isn't 100% consistent in quality, but, I mean... *pulls out issue #97*

Bumble did podcasts? Huh. Well, so far the art for ASO looks on par to pre-reboot Archie. I havent read them yet so Im only judging based on the cover. It supposedly wraps up the Mecha Sally arc? Thats too tempting cause Im still reading reboot Archie. As long as the characters don't look off model or the writing isny weak, then it shouldnt bother me. Im honestly shocked this didnt get hit with a copyright claim.

Since my free time is mostly weekends, its when I take the opportunity to unwind and catch up on stuff. TV shows, movies, video games. And just a couple weeks ago, I added comics to that list. Though it seems I have sub-sets of Sonic comics to still go through. Archie SU, ASO, and even Sea3on. Great to know that the fans are still keeping this side of the community alive.

Actually, Sega has been going out of their way to show they are in favor of fan projects. In fact, Sonic Mania what is intended to be a celebration of Sonic fan games. B) I think Nintendo could stand to learn a few things from Sega...

Ive noticed a shift in Sega's attitude towards the fanbase so whatever happened since 2010 is proving to gain trust from fans again.
