This is the place for thoughtful discussion of social issues, current events, philosophy, religion, economics, politics, etc. As its name implies, this isn't a place for shouting matches, but for cool, reasoned discourse.

How do you eal with your feelings of unjustified rage? Where do you put them so you don't let them build up inside you until you lash out at people who don't deserve it?

Take a marker, or something wide and big, and a piece of paper, and go absolutely nuts over it. Literally kill it.

If that does not do well enough, go out somewhere and just shout out everything you feel. You're human, and you shouldn't feel embarrassed to do something that may be helpful for you, if you feel embarrassed of course.

I just silence it. It's weird, but anger is easily my most controlled emotion. So much so that if I am overwhelmed by a given negative emotion, I use it to feed/convert anger, then just quell it. Takes like 5 seconds and I'm good to go
Is this abnormal? It feels like it might be

I speak to someone. Lets you vent your anger without punching someone in the face or exploding. If several of you are angry over the same thing (common if you work in a shop!), it helps everybody if you chat instead of waiting until one of you goes nuclear and causes a chain reaction...

Me, I go for a range of responses, whatever fits best at the time.

Sometimes I'll just go and do something that I know will change my mood - write, usually, or listen to music. It's helpful for turning my mood into something else.

Sometimes I'll indulge the anger by having fantasies that Shadow the Hedgehog would find a bit melodramatic. I don't know how healthy they are, but they do the job if I feel a 'need' to be angry. I think because it's the opposite of the above suggestion, so I allow myself to feel it. Amplify it beyond the situation's true parameters. After a while I feel cleaned out and actively want to find something else to think about.

Sometimes I'll talk it over, either with someone relevant to the situation (which means I might be able to solve the problem entirely) or to someone completely detached from it. To do that is very freeing - I either get to present the problem entirely on my own terms, or explore what the problem means to the other people involved (which can lessen the problem, I find), and because the person whose ear I'm bending isn't familiar with the situation, they're usually happy to drop the subject as soon as I am.

But first they must catch you. Listener. Digger. Runner.
    Prince with a swift warn.
Be cunning, full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed."

Rage is an emotion formed out of ignorance of a subject or of irrational thought, thus I avoid arriving at the emotion.

Though it feels somewhat arrogant in some ways to say, I am much the same way. If I get angry, I just quietly slink off somewhere and chill for a bit. Rage is a very temporary thing - If you find yourself getting angry frequently and can't place a reason for it, then there's something wrong with your current life situation and you need to assess either how to remove yourself from it or resolve the things about it that are causing you to be frustrated.

I don't think Hind's post was meant as an attack at anybody. But let's not take any of these posts personally and keep posts that we make in this subforum meaningful.

If you don't want to get answers you may dislike, you shouldn't ask the question. Rage is utterly irrational, passion more often than not gets in the way of reason and rationale. It's character flaw that all people on the planet carry with them. A calm, reasonable mind is going to choose better courses of action as opposed to one filled with outrage and fervor.

And, this is coming from someone with a very short temper, admittedly.

No offense intended: Id prefer to spend the majority of my life influenced by emotion. To deny emotion is to deny somethingthat separates us from machine. If you're going to be as cold, unfeeling, calculator and logical as possible, what is mentally separating you from a drone?
This is coming from one with the ability to temporarily silence his emotional response. It creeps me out that I can turn off like it's a lightswitch, albeit it takes continual focus to do so

A machine can't feel no matter what it does and a human will feel no matter how hard he tries to suppress it. Letting emotion rule your decisions can lead you into hot water a lot of the time. There's a huge distance between staying level headed or reasonable and trying to be a machine.
